Norton Sound, Nome Harbor, Alaska
1. All navigation interests are advised of a potential obstruction in the outer entrance channel to Nome Harbor. The obstruction was identified during the 2015 maintenance dredging operations. The approximate location of the obstruction is 200 feet west of the entrance channel centerline at Station 45+00 as referenced in the attached PDF drawing.
2. The obstruction may be above the authorized depth of -22 feet mean lower low water. Mariners should exercise caution while navigating this area and report any strikes to Lucas Stotts, Harbormaster (907-304-1906).
3. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District will be conducting a project condition survey the week of 17 August 2015. Multi-beam sonar equipment will be used to survey and locate the potential obstruction.
4. The Alaska District will update this notice as soon as additional information becomes available.
